Make a telephone voice effect
Choose Telephone and leave pitch at zero for a narrow, distant voice. Apply the preset, compare it with the original, then increase intensity only until you have the amount of thinness you need.
Try it in the voice changerChoose a clean source first
A telephone-style effect works by removing parts of the frequency range. Start with a voice you can already understand. Background hum, a loud fan or overlapping voices will not disappear just because you apply a filter.
Record a short instruction or message. Include a few words with s, t and f sounds: those are useful checks for whether a strong setting has made the line harder to understand.
Narrow the sound in small steps
Choose Telephone and press Apply effect. The preset reduces low bass and upper treble, leaving the middle of the voice more prominent. Raising intensity narrows that remaining range further.
Try intensity at 30, 60 and 80 with the same sentence. Each time, listen at the same player volume. If the result starts to sound muffled, lower intensity. If you like the texture but need more of the original clarity, reduce Effect mix. You can change a control and render again without importing the source again.
Telephone and military radio are different targets
People asking for a military-radio voice often mean a combination of narrow frequency range, interference and the performance itself. The linked role-playing discussion is one example. A simple telephone filter supplies only part of that sound.
This preset does not add radio squelch, transmission clicks or random static. Do not keep increasing intensity to look for those sounds: that only removes more of the voice. Add separate sound effects in your editor if the project calls for them, using recordings you have permission to use.
Fit the clip back into a project
Keep pitch at zero when the message needs to stay in sync with an animation or existing video. This studio changes speed alongside pitch. A lower pitch will make the line longer, even if the filter itself does not.
Download the WAV and compare it with the surrounding scene. A radio line often needs to remain intelligible over music or effects. If it gets lost, return to the original input in this tab, reduce intensity or mix, and export another take. Raising volume alone will not restore frequencies the filter removed.
Check before sharing
Listen through the entire output, especially quiet endings of words. Keep an untouched copy of the original file outside the browser. Refreshing or closing this page clears the working audio.
Share a recipe link when you want a collaborator to use the same settings on a different line. Send the WAV when you want them to hear the same recording. Neither option turns this page into a virtual microphone for a live call.
